Aside

  • I have been in and out of apartments and condos so many times already I should make a business out of it.
  • I need to buy a condo
  • Unlike last year, I don’t have anything to anticipate in 2013.
  • Speaking of which, there are 4 more days to new year.
  • My friend has got herself engaged this month.
  • Speaking of which, love  (whether the abundance or the lack of it) is to each of its own. Whether you are so lovable that your love life flourishes like crazy OR that it resembles a Saharan desert…still, you have no  right to be judgmental about other people’s life. I am sick of this mindset and of people who just love to pry on the life of others. Being with someone or not, I have never gloat about it and rub it on the singletons. As if coupling is the best thing ever happen to the human race, after the sliced breads of course. The point is, yes you are happy, your boyfriend treats you like a princess (even if you look like none and your boyfriend resembles a toad), the world revolves around only the two of you lovebirds…good for you, really! BUT keep those feelings to yourself, for god’s sake. Don’t judge others who are single, don’t question their decision, its THEIR life, not yours, so be it. You may not know that she has her own reason to be who she is today. Seriously, what is this with the narrow minded society that we live in. Some people just don’t want to agree with conformity, geddit? Next time please, just be mindful of your own life, not others, especially when it comes to love life.
  • I hate ranting, but there are certain points need to be delivered.
  • My 2013 travel plans include Cambodia in January, Indonesia in February, Australia in May. I don’t know how I can afford all these trips in short period of time but I’ll try. I can live without new clothes, bags and shoes.

Aku by Chairil Anwar

My fav poet is Indonesian’s Chairil Anwar. Sadly he died in 1949 when he was only 27 but has managed to produce close to 100 literature, including 70 poems. He was described as an arrogant individualistic by some, as reflected in my fave poem of his, Aku.

Kalau sampai waktuku
‘Ku mau tak seorang ‘kan merayu
Tidak juga kau
Tak perlu sedu sedan itu
Aku ini binatang jalang
Dari kumpulannya terbuang
Biar peluru menembus kulitku
Aku tetap meradang menerjang
Luka dan bisa kubawa berlari
Berlari
Hingga hilang pedih peri
Dan aku akan lebih tidak perduli
Aku mau hidup seribu tahun lagi

so let your hips do the talking..

I was first introduced to Kings of Convenience by my then boyfriend back when we were in uni. Their ‘I’d Rather Dance With You’ song has been in my playlist ever since. Little that I know they’ve come to play in KL in 2010…plus together with my fav local indie band, Tenderfist.

The music’s too loud and the noise from the crowd
Increases the chance of misinterpretation
So let your hips do the talking
I’ll make you laugh by acting like the guy who sings
And you’ll make me smile by really getting into the swing
Getting into the swing, getting into the swing
Getting into the swing, getting into the swing

Pretty cute, right?

Now on Tenderfist, they’re different than other indie bands in Malaysia. Of course we can see bits of influence and resemblance of the western bands like MGMT, but still they’ve incorporated their own style of beat music which fits for local indie fans.

I like this particular song.

Don’t think guilty if you know
What you wanna do is lie
Messing people when you’re gone
Leave behind a broken heart

My heart…

Hanging up the telephone
Conversation put on hold
Steppin’ on my broken heart
It’s like stepping on a broken glass

This heart is wasted on you
This heart is wasted on you dear
This heart is wasted on you
This heart is wasted on you dear

My heart…

It is actually Urbanscapes, held in KL every year. An avenue to assemble music, fashion and art enthusiasts in one place. Weekend tickets priced at close to 200 bucks. Why so hefty this year?

Fuckin Sigur Ros, y’all!

I was blessed to be able to see them performed live. And they didn’t disappoint..gosh I love their performance.

The sound system was perfect. The band was so so good,  Jónsi with his amaaazing voice and Orri Páll with his perfect drumming. Oh for the lack of better words, the show was simply mind blowing.

Simply put, Takk Sigur Ros for performing live here in Malaysia.

Uluwatu, Bali

This place is the absolute epitome of beauty. I dont mind settling down at this place, marry a local and grow a farm. Heh.

Basically we decided to spend a night in Uluwatu after googling the many beaches around Uluwatu. There are few beaches that caught our eyes, namely Suluban, Padang-padang and Dreamland. You can google the pictures of these beaches and yes, all of them are very nice. Mainly for advanced surfers, as the waves can get very high therefore very dangerous for novice surfers.

Anyways I booked Bali Bule Homestay for Rp. 350k. No doubt the most expensive, but the nicest place that we stayed in Bali. Uluwatu is a huge place, obviously there are other homestays and guesthouses around the area. However not many are listed on the internet, and due to its seclusion, we had doubts on whether we were able to get a room for the night had we not place any booking. That explains why we booked Bali Bule Homestay. Nevertheless we were happy with this place,  huge room (able to fit 4 pax), clean toilet, comfy bed, and of course, a swimming pool 🙂 It is also a walking distance to Suluban beach.

Sunrise was pretty early in Uluwatu..as early as 5am. We woke up real early and headed to the beach at about 7am. Apparently the people there were also early risers, especially the surfers aiming to catch the big waves. To get to the beach we had to ask the locals along the way. To get there we had to climb down the steep stairs alongside cafes and bungalows. It was truly a different experience for us.  We spent approx. 2 hours swimming the natural ‘pool’ at the beach. By the time more and more surfers started coming and wading the water waiting to hit the waves. The waves started to appear around 8ish..and it was really fun watching those guys (even few kids!) surfing. Maybe soon we’ll learn to surf..perhaps perhaps 😀

Padang-padang Beach. If you could see there are surfers waiting for the big break in the middle of the ocean. Awesome.
